In Their Own Story

The Malazan army, led by Adjunct Tavore Paran and consisting largely of untried recruits, reaches Raraku to find the rebel forces disintegrating amidst several betrayals. These internal fractures lead directly to the death of Dryjhna. In a moment of tragic liberation, Felisin is freed from the control of the Whirlwind Goddess. However, this freedom comes at a terrible cost: she remains unrecognised by her own sister, Adjunct Tavore Paran. Without a single word spoken between them, Tavore kills Felisin. This event marks the end of the newly instated Sha'ik and occurs just as the Malazan forces are assisted by an army of ghosts, including the deceased Bridgeburners who have achieved a state of ascendancy.
